Yesterday, I had the honor of delivering the keynote address at the Technology Workshop held on the second day of "The Changing Outlook for U. S. Energy: Will Shale Gas Transform America's Future?" in Washington, D.C..
The event was hosted by The Howard Baker Forum and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, with the partners listed above.
I spoke on The Role of Science and Technology in Mitigating Risk. I described a hopeful effort that would study the impacts of gas drilling on public health, and called on the gas industry to adopt an aspirational goal of eliminating the use of water and chemicals from shale gas development.
